John the Sheep
"When a strange woollen man comes to the aid of a hapless bankrobber the ensuing crime spree prompts this urgent appeal for help from the forces for law and order."
Written by Brendan O'Connell and animated by Frank Prendergast and Emmet O'Neill, "Sex, Booze and a Sheep Named John: Crimescene" was funded by the Irish Film Board as part of the Irish Flash II scheme. We are proud to have partaken in the first two Irish Flash schemes.
The animation was developed with both broadcast and web delivery in mind. We used 3d tools to block out the animation and then drew most of the frames by hand, based on output from the 3d applications. We think the result is quite unique.
The animation is available to view on this website, it is roughly 2.5 megabytes in size, in Flash format.
We're Going Sailing
We're Going Sailing is an animated music video for the song of the same name by John Spillane. If by some terrible misfortune you don't know who John Spillane is you should immediately buy his album "Will We Be Brilliant or What?". The album is an enhanced CD - which means that any reasonably good PC with a CD drive will be able to play the animation for you. The version of the animation on the CD is Quicktime, and the audio quality is be superior to the version presented on this site in Flash.
The animated music video for 'We're Going Sailing' draws on the romantic nature of the song for it's inspiration. Not just the boy-girl romance aspect but also the atmospherical and mythical romance that runs through the song. The simplicity and childlike style of the animation emphasises the naiveté and innocence that is inherent in the song itself. The Characters in the song are not adults neither are they Children. The characters are mythical characters, only a few inches in height, and are 'sailing' on a leaf. Their 'ocean' is really a stream, a reflection of an interpretation of the song's theme, that is a romanticism of the adventure a couple goes through and the magical quality that love gives to ordinary life.
The animationhas been shown on transatlantic flights and Hot Press said the animation was a joy to watch.

Kid Biscuit
Kid Biscuit was our first animated adventure and we hope to develop the sequel, where Kid Biscuit gets a career boost from a hip hop producer. We plan to do this when we totally lose our minds.
Kid Biscuit was funded by Bord Scannan na hIireann and Atom Films as part of the first Irish Flash scheme. Irish Flash is an exciting scheme, which was initiated by the Irish Film Board to encourage the exploration of the new opportunities presented by online distribution channels and Macromedia's animation platform Flash.
Kid Biscuit, written by Brendan O'Connell, tells the story of a young boy who, after a near death experience, discovers that he has been possessed by the spirit of Elvis and decides to perform in concert. Kid Biscuit and the King premiered at the 46th Murphys Cork Film Festival and was also screened at the Darklight Digital Film Festival on the 17th of November at the IFC in Dublin.
Stick-Man
"Stick-Man is a hero for the post MTV generation junkies..."
Actually, Stick-Man is a personal project worked on from time to time for our own amusement. Which is just as well as no-one else finds it amusing.
Episode I
If
you search deep enough, you will find the Stick-Man within yourself.
In this episode, Stick-Man battles with Ennui in the early hours of the morning while the rest of us sleep on, unawares. But who will emerge victorious and what can possibly save Stick-Man from the perils of Apathy?
Episode II
In
this episode, Stick-Man falls prey to what appears to be a cruel twist
of fate. Even the most vigilant superhero cannot escape destiny, but we
are left to ponder whether Stick-Man's misfortune was truly akin to the
sword of Damocles or more of a subconscious hari-kari. Could it be that
our hero was in effect the victim of his own undoing?
In full technicolour. Stick-Man's first 'talkie'.
