Blogger.com sucks

I'm not a happy camper. I have been a staunch supporter of blogger, and have defended their service many times in blog discussions with Tom R, as he will testify.

I have supported and used Blogger because of the easy set up and user friendly interface.

All well and good if it works. Lately I have had frequent trouble posting and often my feeds decide to revert to partial instead of full, all of their own accord.

On top of that Blogger Support is very poor, standards support is still only halfway there and important blogging features like trackback don't seem to be on the agenda at all. Also, existing features can be changed with little or no warning to existing blogger users (see my post on image upload).

I thought I was on my own. I'm not. Search Google for 'Blogger sucks'. There's a lot of unhappy blogger bloggers out there. And it goes back to April. Blogger seems to periodically just start stumbling around like a druken three legged elephant.

Blogger is owned by Google. Are Google losing their grip? I've been hearing grumblings out there recently about Google and their various products. A lot of people seem to share the concern that Google are becoming just another faceless corporation. That's certainly becoming my view.

if you're starting a blog from scratch, try Wordpress.

You can always import your blogger posts into wordpress :)

I'm not exactly enamoured with Google at the moment either ...

Yeah, I spotted your observations on Google Analytics - unforgivable goings on really.

For some of the blogs I look after porting to Wordpress wouldn't be a HUGE deal, but coming up with a new solution for BifSniff for example would be a bit of a pain.

But probably one I will endure sooner or later - it's been on the long finger for a while, but it may have to be prioritised!

I use it for Spoilt and so far have had no problem with it. Ther are some quirks like posting getting stuck at 0% but its easy enought to get around that.

Hate to break it to you Alan, but your feed for spoiltchild.com/spoilt/ seems to be stuck in October.

Perhaps things have not been going as smoothly as you thought...? :P

Also, did you make a conscious decision not to publish feeds for spoiltchild.com/news.php?

Mind me asking why?

Doh! Never even noticed that. Feck you blogger!

As for spoiltchild news, i never dcided what exactly i wanted to do with it and have not yet got round to finishing it.

Well it seems that somehow my feed settings got messed up in blogger. Fixed now.

Probably best to subscribe to my own feed to check on it in future.

Apologies Alan, I had meant to email you to make sure you were aware of this, but I've been up the walls and it slipped my mind...

I find Blogger quite frequently screws up the feeds, I am now moving to Wordpress for any new clients and will probably slowly migrate my own blogs to Wordpress when I get the chance.

Which will probably be within the next decade sometime ;)

In the end it all comes down to time :)
